Based on a CAEL survey, the Guidebook outlines the use and acceptance of prior learning assessment methodologies in post-secondary institutions in the United States. These include: portfolio, standardized exams, challenge exams, the formal assessment of non-college programs by ACE and local institutions, and assessment of nationally-recognized certificates of achievement.
