Once upon a time, a young girl struggled with school long before she understood that learning differences were common and recognized. She struggled with school and work for what felt like forever until others recognized her skills and abilities, fostered them, and helped shape the person she is today!
Today, I value all formal, informal, non-formal, or experiential learning. I strive to see the whole person and relish every opportunity to share and receive the lived experiences of the many diverse people I have worked with. Through these people, I am reminded that I am still learning and that much is yet to be discovered.
Throughout my life, I have attended universities and colleges, government-sponsored learning, and targeted courses, both synchronous and asynchronous, in person, online, and self-led. These experiences have presented me with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. In truth, to this day, my dad is the most influential person in my learning and inspiration. He believed that doing the task is the best way to learn, that we should foster an individual’s strengths, that we are all unique and bring something different to the table, and above all else, be curious.
Being curious has afforded me many opportunities that I would not have had otherwise. From lining ballfields to merging a physician credentialing service from nine districts to one, I honed skills I could not have otherwise gained. Passionate about learning, growth, and development, I am committed to myself and, through strong partnerships, help create spaces and opportunities for inclusive and diverse practices.
