Jeremy McQuigge is a leading advocate for Work-Based Learning (WBL), lifelong learning, and competency-based education. A published author, speaker, and researcher, he has spent over two decades championing the recognition of learning gained through purposeful work—whether in employment, community leadership, or civic engagement.

As Secretary-General of the Council Advancing Work-Based Learning (CAWBL), Jeremy drives global efforts to establish WBL as a recognized and structured learning system. Under his leadership, CAWBL sets international standards, frameworks, and credentialing systems that ensure skills gained through work are valued, transferable, and mobilized for career and societal impact.

As a board member of CAPLA, Jeremy brings deep expertise in prior learning assessment and recognition (PLAR), WBL assessment models, and competency-based credentialing. His leadership supports CAPLA’s mission to ensure that learning—regardless of where it happens—is equitably recognized and meaningfully applied in Canada’s evolving skills economy.
