Developing Benchmarks for Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition – Practitioners’ Perspectives

Benchmarks

The aim of this benchmarking study was to develop and promote national benchmarks for PLAR practitioners in Canada. The study reviews Canadian PLAR practices and the benchmarking process. It also analyzes the climate for benchmarks, discusses PLAR policy development and presents a mechanism for validating the competence of PLAR practitioners. A practitioners' guide was published separately (see below).

Guidelines

These practitioners' guidelines grew out of Developing Benchmarks for Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition – Practitioners' Perspectives (see above). The guide includes learning activities to help practitioners reflect upon and improve their own practice, plus exercises to complete while they develop their portfolios against the newly-emerging benchmarks.
